Gym Rules


  1. Leave your ego at the door. This plays a big part in doing what we do safely and also in your own improvement. Competition is a great motivator, but it can also lead to an athlete forgoing safety for results. Don’t worry about what the person next to you is doing and focus on yourself. Don’t feel ashamed if you have to scale. We would rather see someone scale down to a training bar and move with good form, than see someone hucking weight around in danger of hurting themselves or someone else. The person that starts with the training bar and learns to do it properly will get much farther than the person jumping ahead of themselves and heading to a possible injury. If we see you working with too much weight, we will ask you to scale and please remember – this is for your own safety. Secondly, you will be doing things that are hard for you. Maybe things that you have never done before and don’t think you can possibly do. You will fail at something. Most importantly, don’t be afraid to try. Everyone fails, it happens. Just keep trying and you’ll improve. Even if you think you can’t, you can if you keep at it. We’ll get you there and we won’t quit if you don’t. All this is much easier, if you leave your ego at the door.
  2. Be respectful of everyone. The Golden Rule says it all – treat others how you yourself would like to be treated.
  3. No excuses.
  4. Drop the weights if you have bumper plates on them, that stuff is heavy! Besides – that’s what the bumper plates are made for. However, please do not drop an empty barbell. They look indestructible, but they will break. 
  5. How you do everything in here, is how you do everything out there.
  6. Be better than yesterday.
  7. Speak your mind. We have a totally open door policy and want to do our best to maintain a positive and healthy culture. If there’s something you want to chat about, let us know.
  8. No dress code. We don’t worry about how we look, we worry about our results. Wear whatever you are most comfortable in. No shirt, no shoes, no worries.
  9. Introduce yourself to all newcomers, we are a community. Also, they may need to revive you later. “Hey you, get up!” is so impersonal.
  10. Yelling, grunting, screaming, whimpering and crying is just fine with us. We are respectful, but we don’t need to be silent. Just remember that golden rule and be positive. Yell all you want – there will be a whole gym full of people doing the exact same thing.
